A well-fitted garment can transform your appearance. Discover the details that make a suit feel comfortable, balanced, and naturally confident.
An expensive suit that fits poorly will always look worse than a modest suit that fits well. Fit affects how a garment moves with your body, how it photographs, and — most importantly — how confident you feel wearing it. The most common fit issues are surprisingly simple: shoulders that are too wide or narrow, sleeves that run too long, and a jacket length that throws off your proportions. The shoulder is the hardest part of a jacket to alter after construction, which is why it is the first thing a good tailor checks. If the shoulder seam sits correctly at the edge of your natural shoulder, most other fit issues become easier to correct. Sleeve and trouser length are comparatively simple adjustments, but they are the details most often left wrong on off-the-rack purchases. Comfort matters as much as appearance. A suit that restricts movement across the shoulders and back when you reach forward, or pulls at the button when seated, was not properly fitted regardless of how it looks standing still in a mirror. This is why we always fit in movement — reaching, sitting, and walking — not just in a static pose.
